Define: No Fucks Given

There are a lot of “no fucks given” cars that seem to have been given plenty of fucks in the pursuit of seeming badass. This however is what giving zero fucks really looks like. A Porsche 356 painted with chalkboard paint and chalked on with chalk. Because whatever.

The closest this car comes to giving what seems like a fuck, is the “draw on me!” tag. Beyond that, no fucks were found to be given. I looked.

I can’t think of any possible way for an enthusiast to have a genuinely “no fucks given” car. Even if you don’t care about the body, it’s awfully hard not to care about the rest. If you don’t care about the steering now, you will soon.

I’d sooner apply the “no fucks given” phrase to things like distracted/drunk drivers...

I think the term relates mainly to aesthetics. But a lot of such cars seem to have lots of “cool” stuff bodged onto them.

At first I was like “Why did he ruin a Porsche 356?” then I remembered that paint comes off. As long as he takes care of the rest, that is sweet.

I think you’re on the right track there. But I think that “no fucks” must, by definition, imply an EXTREME lack of concern. Therefore, when it comes to aesthetics, “no fucks” would have to indicate never ever ever touching it. No re-paints, no dent repair, no waxing, not even washing.

I don’t know if I agree. I think we have different ideas of not giving a fuck. I think the Porsche driver went to the length of painting their car in a way they knew would get reactions out of people, which is quite a bit of effort for not caring.

the first of the Z-F-G junk that i had put together. i had put it together in around 2000. i hadnt seen one on the road in some time. RIGHT when i was about to put it legal, they showed up from EVERYWHERE. i couldnt swing a dead cat without hitting a truck like mine. SO i postponed putting my truck on the road . in that time i had put a whole lot of time into it, its quick for an old truck. i replaced all the dented panels it had had. it now had straight panels, all with rough original paint. but it is something that i can park just about anywhere and not be concerned with coming back out and finding a scratch in the paint. its a truck that has no value to anyone else, but i still wouldnt take for it. ill be at a gas station and folks will say “nice truck” and i look around to make sure they are talking to me. i built it before “PATINA” was a thing. it was anti-trendy. just a big cam headers 3inch exhaust, manual trans, power nothing. i might have $4000 over the last 10 years into it.

but anti-trendy covered it pretty well.

This is kind of similar to the guy who has 37 piercings on his face, make-up, and wears a T-shirt about how he doesn’t give a fuck. He really DOES give a fuck. He wants you to look, just like this guy found a way to make a Porsche stand out without throwing tens of thousands of dollars doing a full restoration. Which is all fine.

People misunderstand what “no fucks given” means. It means they aren’t giving fucks to you. As in you can walk up and say “I don’t like that” and they say “I don’t give a fuck BECAUSE I LIKE IT”
